A catalytic converter is a device that is found in the exhaust system of a vehicle. It’s main purpose is to reduce the amount of pollutants and toxic gases that your vehicle’s emission system produces.
Both petrol and diesel run vehicles can have a catalytic converter. Because they require temperatures of about 400 degrees to function effectively, they are usually found very close to the engine in most vehicles.
Catalytic converters normally do not affect a vehicle’s performance and fuel consumption, unless if they are faulty.
